Our Work
National Initiatives
Hack4Impact's main initiative is to provide nonprofits with software they otherwise would never be able to have. Working with nonprofits across the world, Hack4Impact members build products to improve the functions of effective nonprofits in their local communities.
The Bytes of Good pod tackles issues surrounding the world's most underserved communities and causes. It's meant to expose these areas of need and discuss how software solutions have made an impact. We strive to motivate our listeners to get involved in any capacity, from simply spreading awareness to offering new career trajectories.

In an effort to get students, teachers, and philadelphians more engaged with the arts community in the city, OACCE reached out to us to create an online searchable database of art experience opportunities. ArtsLink is a free resource for Philadelphians to discover arts programs from local organizations that best fit the needs of their community.
AsylumConnect’s current verification model is a bottleneck, as volunteers must independently verify resources for each city they expand into. In addition, volunteers are not (all) members of our target community, and are not the best-equipped to verify whether or not a resource is LGBTQ-friendly, asylum seeker-friendly, etc. Allowing community members to tag, verify, endorse, and report resources, AsylumConnect will empower and ensure the safety of its highly marginalized communities.
Featured Projects
MapScout is an interactive resource map that allows people looking for behavioral/mental health and trauma-specific services to be able to see what is offered near them and more easily navigate a system that is often confusing and overwhelming. We currently partner with two nonprofit organizations, PACTS and EPIC.
Volunteers at MedShare identify and categorize a large quantity and variety of medical supplies. MedShare needed a way for volunteers to identify these incoming products quickly and efficiently. To address this problem, we created a mobile-friendly website with a search tool for volunteers and admin at MedShare to use to search for product ID's. This search tool contains many features to improve volunteer productivity, including a search by several parameters, favorites, and an FAQ page.
Featured Projects
Our team partnered with the YMCA New American Welcome Center (NAWC) to build a centralized virtual resource hub. This product allows immigrants to independently access resources according to their personal needs and enables NAWC and other local organizations to better serve the community through more informed recommendations.
Founded and run by former hate group members who have led successful post-movement lives, Life After Hate's ExitUSA™ program provides support to individuals who are looking to leave racism and violence behind. We’ve built a centralized platform that allows for more efficient lookup and storage of ExitUSA™ program resources.
Featured Projects
Habitat for Humanity of Tompkins and Cortland Counties partner with first-time homebuyers in our community to help them build or improve a place they can call home. We built an administration and volunteer sign-ups portal allowing them to manage multiple forms at once and streamline administrative processes
TCAT’s internal predictions model was both highly inaccurate (up to 25% inaccuracy on some days), while a more complex model was untested and server-intensive. Develop a predictive model that allows TCAT to better ascertain the cases where their model goes wrong, thus allowing them to accordingly direct resources
Featured Projects
An iOS and Android mobile application that aims to connect local animal shelters and rescue organizations to anyone that wants to foster pets. The application allows shelters and rescue organizations to upload their pets and create a "personal page" for the pet. Users can search for the perfect pet to adopt through the application.
The agrarian crisis in India has considerable variation in socio-economic conditions, natural resource constraints, cropping patterns and opportunities available. Agri-Works provides collated databases and the required software infrastructure to allow policy makers and researchers to and act on the data.
Featured Projects
We created a Volunteer Management System for SLOBG allowing volunteers to accurately record their hours and view their volunteer history. Additionally, nonprofit supervisors can view and manage all the volunteer information and export it when necessary.
We created an interface to a new SQL database storing beach cleanup data, which was previously stored in spreadsheets. Our product allows ECOSLO to fully manage and utilize years worth of data easily to spread public awareness and gain funding.
Featured Projects
We worked with Move Up to create a SMS-based signup system that allows potential clients to apply by responding to questions over text with their basic information. This then allows Move Up to reach out to them afterwards and complete their signup process.
We're working with MealCare to create a mobile app that allows their volunteers to enter the food waste they pick up at each of their stops, as well as a web dashboard that allows MealCare to analyze their data in-depth and report it to the food vendors they've partnered with.

By analyzing data collected by the ACLU/NYCLU, we hope to highlight and bring attention to the issue of police misconduct in New York City.
